Will I be able to stay on my medications?
Yes, many patients come to us having relocated to SF for a new role. If you've been stable on your regimen, we can maintain it. Uploading a diagnosis letter or noting the name and website of your former provider will help ensure this transition.
What if I've never been diagnosed with ADHD?
We will provide a thorough psychiatric evaluation to determine whether ADHD is an accurate diagnosis for you. We will ask you about your experiences as a child and as an adult because ADHD is a condition that begins in childhood. We will also assess for other conditions that may be contributing to your symptoms.
I'm not sure about the year-long plan. Can I decide later?
Yes, you can schedule and pay for a new patient evaluation only. If you want to enroll in concierge care later, we will deduct any payments you have made toward the annual concierge fee.
What if I'm moving soon?
SF Psychiatric can provide care for residents of CA, NY and WA states. SF, Seattle and NYC tend to be the tech hubs many of our patients move between. We are licensed in these states in order to maintain continuity of care for our patients.
Should I get diagnosed by a psychologist instead?
If you need a diagnosis for accommodations at work or for school, yes. You should go through psychological testing as this method best substantiates needs for accommodations. Letters from providers are routinely deemed inadequate to secure accommodations, especially for the bar exam or other professional testing.
If I'm not sure I want to try medications should I start care with SF Psychiatric?
You may be better served by first working with an ADHD-focused psychotherapist or coach. Nonetheless, we can meet with you and explain the various options from non-stimulants to stimulants and answer any questions you have.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, Aetna and United plans only. If you prefer to use your insurer and are on a stimulant, we will require appointments every time you need a prescription. Superbills can be provided for out-of-network plans like Blue Cross and Cigna. Blue Shield will not reimburse for our services.
Can I use an FSA or HSA card for Concierge Care?
Yes, please let us know you're using your FSA or HSA card when we meet and we will provide the necessary paperwork.
Do I have to come in-person?
No, not for the remainder 2026. The DEA continues to extend COVID-Era telehealth laws year by year.
Attending in person can make starting care at a new pharmacy smoother. Pharmacists often ask whether an initial visit was in-person or via telehealth. Certain locations have their own policies mandating in-person visits but this is not the law.
You are most welcome in person if it works for your schedule. We're located by the Powell Street trolly and BART station on Market Street. There is a small waiting room with snacks and chilled beverages for your comfort.
Who will I see and work with at SF Psychiatric?
Liz Moore, PMHNP is our only provider currently welcoming new patients. She is a UCSF graduate, board-certified and has been practicing since 2010. Most of our glowing reviews are about her. Here is a link to her bio.
